VASCO: Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha has assured the traditional farmers of Sancoale of constructing sluice gate at Bandolem lake to arrest confluence of saline water into fields.
The assurance came after at least 50 farmers from Sancoale met and place before her their grievances.
The farmers attached to the Ille Bhaile Khazan Association (IBKA) complained to the MLA of regular saline water confluence into their fields which has forced them to discontinue farming.
Alina inspected the lake and the affected areas along with officials of Water Resource Department (WRD) and the farmers of IKBA. The farmers have requested the MLA to intervene and facilitate the construction of a sluice gate here for the betterment of all. The MLA has assured the farmers of fulfilling their demand.
