vasco: Cortalim MLA Alina Saldhana appealed to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, to declare immediate lockdown of the port town of Vasco to avoid the spread of COVID-19, which has already infected many at Mangor hill.
She added she was shocked to see migrants and visitors from Maharashtra who are entering Goa via Patradevi on bikes and four-wheelers, waiting at Cortalim junction, on their way to South District Hospital for Covid testing.
“At the same time, there are locals who wait at this junction for the daily transport that takes them to their work place or for their personal needs, standing almost shoulder to shoulder with these new entrants into Cortalim who may be infected as they are not tested” she opined.
She also raised strong objection to this halting at Cortalim under Zuari Bridge and appealed that they should be directly escorted from Patradevi to South Goa District Hospital, Margao without any stops in-between.
