PANJIM: Corporation of the City of Panjim (CCP) Mayor Rohit Monserrate on Friday said that all ongoing digging works in the city will be stopped from March 15, in view of the G20 Summit meetings scheduled in the State.

Speaking to mediapersons after the CCP’s ordinary meeting, Monserrate said that the government has asked the Corporation to stop all the ongoing works in the capital city mostly by the Imagine Panjim Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) from March 15, due to G20 Summit meetings to be held in Goa in April this year.

He said that the ongoing works are carried out by multiple agencies such as IPSCDL, Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC), PWD and Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA). These works will be stopped from March 15 and nine to ten roads will be hot-mixed while other roads which were dug up across the city will be re-carpeted after the end of the eight meetings of G20 Summit scheduled in Goa.

“We were not prepared for G20 Summit. Compared to other State, Goa is the only State where eight high-level meetings will be organised,” he said adding that all the departments are working hard to complete the ongoing works.
