panjiM: As a first step towards streamlining the functioning of the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), the Board has now decided to digitise all its record through Goa Electronics Limited (GEL) and a private agency.
IDC Board under chairmanship of Industries Minister Vishwajit Rane met on Tuesday afternoon and discussed various measures to smoothen functioning of IDC. Some fresh amendments to the IDC regulations have also been considered.
Speaking to media persons post the meeting, Rane said the government is working towards revamping the entire functioning of IDC, trying to make it investment-friendly.
“We have to digitise all the records of IDC. The Board today deliberated on the issue. IDC will hold discussion with GEL. GEL will handle some portion of digitisation while IDC will appoint a private company to cover the balance portion,” Rane said. He said  it is very important to streamline basic things, such as transfers, payment of leases, etc. “This will help in availing the date at hand, anytime,” he said. IDC during its Board meeting last year had resolved to digitise its records, however, the same could not take shape.
In yet another decision, IDC has resolved to rope in agency- Sodexo to provide balanced and nutritious food as part of health and wellness solution to the workers and employees working in various industrial estates (IE). On pilot basis, the Sodexo industrial canteen would be launched at Verna IE.
“Sodexo is currently providing canteen facility at GMC. So, we have decided to rope them in setting up industrial canteens in all the industrial estate to provide nutritious food,” Minister said.
There are currently 22 IEs in the State under IDC.
