All Goa Home Guards urge govt to provide govt employee service benefits

SANGUEM: The All Goa Home Guards working at various police stations in Goa has urged the Government for providing Provident Fund, ESI, Sick Leave, Earned Leave and other service benefits otherwise applicable for government employees.
In a memorandum submitted to the Leader Of Opposition Chandrakant Babu Kavlekar, the Goa Home Guards have claimed that despite putting the same amount of service as that of other government employees, they are not treated on par with other employees and are also not provided the regular service benefits.
Except for the minimum payment of wages, dearness and washing allowance no other service benefits are paid to the Home Guards, the memorandum states.
The Home Guards in their memorandum has appealed the Government to provide them the benefits of ESI, Provident Fund and leave allowances. Besides a request is also made for regularisation of the services and the benefits of accidental death and injuries sustained while on duty.
A reference is also made in the memorandum of the Home Guards being paid for 26 days for the months service they put in. For the remaining four days, the Home Guards are marked absent, states the memorandum.
