PORVORIM: The State government has decided to consider all the objections and suggestions received since 2019 on the draft coastal zone management plan (CZMP).

Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral also said that the draft CZMP submitted by the local bodies – village panchayats and municipal councils – have been forwarded to the National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM) Chennai for incorporation in the draft plan.

“All objections received since the year 2019 will be considered by the Authority (Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority),” Cabral said in a question tabled by Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco.

To another question raised by Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte, Cabral said that the public consultation/hearing has been completed and the authority is in the process of examining the objections and suggestions received for further action.

He informed the House that the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has given the State till August 31 this year for finalisation of the draft CZMP.
