VASCO: It appears that all is not well with Vasco Block Congress Committee as general secretary, GPCC secretary and block president of Vasco Block Congress committee were not present for the press conference on Monday evening.
Saifullah Khan, a Congress leader from the port town at a press briefing informed that Vasco Block Congress commenced its door-to-door campaigning in Vasco. He said that the BJP wave, which was prevalent in last election, is missing. There are high chances that people will extend their full support to Congress by electing Sardinha.
When asked about whether Congress has done injustice to Pratima Coutinho by denying her the ticket, Saifullah said the party has taken a call as Sardinha is a senior leader.
Although Vasco Block Congress Committee tried to show all was well, it appeared just the opposite with General secretary, GPCC secretary and block president remaining absent for the press conference. When asked about the same, Saifullah said the other members are busy in the campaign work.
When contacted, Vaman Chodankar, president of Goa Pradesh Fishermen’s Congress and a Congressman said he was not informed on the Monday’s press conference. “I was not even invited for the press briefing. Senior leaders are sidelined but in fact I feel senior leaders need to be taken into consideration on party operations, only then we can taste victory,” Chodankar opined.
At the press briefing, Vasco Block Mahila President Ritu Kinlekar and Vasco Block Youth president Leovita Pereira were present.
