MARGAO: Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Manohar alias Babu Ajgaonkar on Monday said that the government has planned to promote tourism in Goa by taking into consideration all segments of the society, including pilots and ros-omelette selling vendors. The Tourism Board will be constituted in the next few days.
He also said that the government intends to promote the hinter-land tourism in order to attract international tourists.
“Goa beaches are of high standard as compared to other coastal States. We are working hard to keep these beaches clean. The government has already taken initiatives in order to maintain cleanliness on the beaches. We will not tolerate any nuisance on the beaches of Goa”, he said.
Speaking to the media persons at Margao the Tourism Minister said it is the duty of the government to give security to all the tourists entering the State.
“We want tourists to enjoy the beauty of Goa but at the same time tourists need to respect the culture of the State. Our aim is to take the tourist and mostly the international tourists to rural areas of Goa so that they can enjoy the beauty. The government is working hard to promote eco-tourism”, said Ajgaonkar.
He further said that sports tourism is also one of the main agenda of the government, and sports policy has also been formulated towards this.
“Tourism board will be constituted in the coming days and the experts in the field of tourism will be its members. No other person will be included in the board other than tourism related experts”, said the tourism minister.
He once again said that stern action will be taken against the tourists creating nuisance on the beaches. Special policy cell is keeping an eye on such activities.
“The government will see to it that small businessmen of Goa get the maximum benefits of tourism activities. We have already lessened the fee of shack owners in wake of Covid pandemic. We are also working out the solution to give relief to the hoteliers”, said Ajgaonkar.
