Allegations made of voters from Mormugao being harassed

vasco: There have been allegations that voters from Mormugao constituency are being harassed by the administrative authorities by making it mandatory for them to produce a notarised No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the house owner, despite the voters producing valid identity proof documents such as Aadhaar card, voters ID, electricity and water bills etc.

This is in connection with the voters who are clearing their names from the deletion list of the new electoral roll during the personal hearing called by the Deputy Collector, claimed Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Vice President Sankalp Amonkar on Tuesday.

Amonkar accused the local administrative authority of harassing voters in this regard.

He added that the notarized NOC from a house owner for a person staying on rent is not at all a mandatory document to be produced before authority to clear the names from the deletion list.

“The fact that the authorities are insisting on it, indicates that they are operating under the political pressure of a Minister,” Amonkar alleged.
