PANJIM: In another interesting move, the KTC is also examining the inland water transport systems operating in Calcutta with an eye on stepping in into providing passenger launch services through the State inland waterways.
“This is our big vision for the future,” said Carlos Almeida, the Chairman of KTCL.
“We will have to prepare a proposal and take it forward from there, he said adding that the Corporation is looking at various avenues of generating revenue.
The Corporation is also eyeing central funds for various upgradation proposals and is already tapping funds through the Jawaharlal National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) for a new fleet of buses and computerisation.
“We could take up some routes for providing water transport services,” said an official of the KTCL again disclosing that these are ideas being floated for the future and the corporation would study this issue thoroughly before setting sail on the same.
