Ambora residents protest against bad roads

MARGAO: At least 50 people under the banner of Revolutionary Goans held a silent protest for nearly an hour at Ambora on Sunday against the “horrible” condition of roads both in their village and all over Goa and demanded that the same be attended to within a month.

MARGAO: At least 50 people under the banner of Revolutionary Goans held a silent protest for nearly an hour at Ambora on Sunday against the “horrible” condition of roads both in their village and all over Goa and demanded that the same be attended to within a month.
The protest was titled “poixe gele khoddean” literally meaning “money down the drain” and highlighted the fate of Camurlim residents given the fact that the stretch of Margao-Ponda highway in that village is being repaired for the last two years with the work not being completed as yet.
“The roads do not even last one monsoon because of corruption as substandard work is allowed and paid for by corrupt bureaucrats and politicians,” said Revolutionary Goans founder Manoj Parab.
The protest that was supported by the panchayat with the panchas Sarpanch Basilio Fernandes participating in the same.
The protestors demanded that signboards giving the names of the contractor and when the work is expected to be completed besides erecting a sign board after the work is commissioned giving the contact number of the contractor and the engineer who cleared the work so that they can be contacted in case of any problems.
