VASCO: An ambulance carrying a woman who needed immediate medical attention was hit by a car near MES College Junction (Zuarinagar) on four lane NH17 B road on Sunday. The patient was unharmed and she was shifted to hospital by another ambulance.
The incident reportedly occurred at around 5.30 pm when an ambulance from Manipal Hospital was proceeding towards Verna Junction from Dabolim was hit by a Maruti Swift car that was taking U-Turn near the MES college junction.
Since the ambulance got damaged, the staff immediately summoned another ambulance and the patient was shifted to the hospital. Verna police have registered a case and Head Constable Nevil Fernandes is investigating the case.
Meanwhile, the residents of MES College residential area have raised serious concerns over the increase in the number of accidents at the MES college junction. They also questioned the police for their failure to deploy a policeman at the junction on regular basis, as promised to them in past.
The residents have, therefore, reiterated their demanded for traffic signals at MES college junction on priority.
