PANJIM: The 108 Emergency Response Services employees are likely to strike work from Wednesday (today) even as the government has invoked the Essential Services Maintenance Act, prohibiting any strike in all units or sections of the GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute with immediate effect.
According to sources, the staff had been complaining that they have had to make do with vehicles which are badly maintained, and many times breakdown, leaving them at the mercy of the people.

Company representatives, including on the 108 helpline number, were not available for reactions.
The Government has declared that in public interest, the 108 Emergency Response Services rendered by GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute are essential services under the Essential Services Maintenance Act and prohibited any strike.
