American national held for possessing drugs worth Rs 12L

PANJIM:  Even as Chief Minister Pramod Sawant claimed that the main supply of drugs in Goa had stopped after the detention of three alleged drug offenders, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Goa Police arrested two persons in connection with possession of drugs.

An octogenarian American national named Giovanni Robert Caso aged 83 years was arrested by the Police and was allegedly found in possession of 12 g of LSD liquid and 45 g of MDMA at St Michael Wado, Anjuna on the night of September 15. The drugs seized are worth Rs 12 lakh.

In another case, one more accused person from Mapusa was arrested for possession of illegal chemical drugs. 

Meanwhile, on Thursday evening at Karaswada junction, the ANC apprehended a Mapusa resident for being in possession of illegal drugs worth Rs 2.60 lakh approximately in the international market. A mobile phone has also been seized. 

The accused Delton Edward Diego Da Costa aged 26 years was apprehended from below the flyover at Karaswada Junction. 

He was possessing a blue colour polythene bag, which allegedly contained a greenish colour flowering and fruiting tops of a plant suspected to be narcotic drugs Ganja weighing 604 grams, two plastic containers containing Hashish oil, one container weighing 39.04 g and another container weighing 18.28 g and one transparent polythene packet containing whitish colour crystalline substance suspected to be MDMA totally weighing 2.25 g.

The seizure of illegal chemical drugs right at the onset of tourism season in Goa is set to worry the Government. The ANC will have an uphill task to curtail the drug menace in Goa from here on.
