NEW DELHI: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has appointed Adv Supriya Angare as the amicus curie and summoned the North Goa Collector to present the factual situation and verify the relevant documents in the petition filed by a villager from Nerul, Bardez.
The Bench of Justice V R Kingaonkar and expert member D Akay Deshpande issued a notice to the collector on the pleading by Adv F M Mesquita, who appeared on behalf of the Goa Government at the Pune Bench of NGT. The next hearing is fixed for January 21.
In two other cases of Rudrek Naik, regarding a case of construction on a hill, the Bench fixed January 25 as the next date for hearing. Adv Mesquita was directed to produce the relevant material on cutting of the hill and let an officer of the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) appear before the Tribunal along with the files for perusal.
The Bench also ruled that there will not be any further adjournments and the final arguments will be completed at the next hearing. The State government was also directed to file any further affidavit at least five days before the next hearing, with a copy to the complainant.
