Amid ‘restricted’ supply to Raia locals, water gushes onto streets

MARGAO: Residents of Manora, Raia were surprised to see water from a pipeline gushing onto the road and flowing into the compounds of houses on the road.

Not only were the residents irked about the wastage of potable water, they were also exasperated because they did not receive water supply in their own houses on Thursday, but there was water all over the roads on the same day.

While the residents stated that it appeared the pipeline passing through Manora had burst, PWD officials said that planned maintenance works were underway on the said pipeline, which had to be drained out first.

They added that the residents of Raia would get their water supply restored by Thursday night. They further added that they had recently issued a public notice on the matter as well. “Due to urgent maintenance work of installation of branch tapping valve on 1200 mm dia MS transmission line at Manora Raia, there will be restricted water supply to the consumers of Mormugao taluka, Curtorim, Margao, Fatorda, Benaulim and Nuvem constituencies on December 15, from 10 am to 4 pm. Consumers are requested to bear the inconvenience,” read the public notice.
