MARGAO: Even as resistance against the railway double tracking persists, South Western Railways is preparing to begin a key phase in the Tinaighat-Vasco double line project. Scheduled for June 10, a statutory inspection and speed trial run will take place on the newly doubled railway track segment from Majorda to Cansaulim.
The inspection and speed trial will be overseen by the Commissioner of Railway Safety, Southern Circle, Bengaluru. This step is crucial for ensuring the safe opening of the new double track for public use. In a notice issued by the South Western Railway, the public is strongly urged to exercise caution and avoid trespassing or crossing the railway track, as this poses safety risks.
It’s worth highlighting that numerous affected residents have been actively protesting the railway doubling project, citing concerns over its potential environmental impact and the disregard for the damage it may cause.
The acquisition of land without transparent communication has left residents in the dark, exacerbating anxiety about the fate of their homes and properties. This lack of clarity regarding the process and its implications has intensified concerns among affected residents, who fear displacement and loss of livelihoods. As the statutory inspection and speed trial begin, stakeholders are closely monitoring the developments. They emphasise the need to balance progress with the preservation of local interests and environments.
