PANJIM: BJP National president Amit Shah on Thursday met alliance partners Vijai Sardesai and Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar to discuss the political situation in Goa.
Sources revealed that the party is seriously considering a leadership change and names of Rajya Sabha MP and State BJP chief Vinay Tendulkar, Speaker Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane are being discussed.
TCP Minister Sardesai, after the meeting, tweeted that BJP leadership is “seriously looking at leadership issues to give Goa a stable government”.
Sardesai who met BJP National President Amit Shah in Delhi Thursday afternoon discussed the current political situation. “I have explained to him what are the aspirations of the Goan people in the current political scenario,” Sardesai said. “BJP’s central leadership is seriously looking at the leadership issue and at giving Goa a stable government. We discussed the political scenario including the aspirations of Goan people,” he said.
On the other hand, PWD Minister Dhavalikar said he discussed the portfolio distribution.“I also requested Shahji not to change chief minister but just distribute the portfolios,” he said.
Dhavalikar stated that he requested Shah to send a message to the people that BJP cares for its allies. “In future senior most from allies should be given the chance to lead the State,” he said.
On Wednesday, the meeting scheduled in Delhi between Shah and the regional party leaders was postponed due to unavailability of BJP chief.
In a setback to the Congress, two MLAs – Dayanand Sopte and Subhash Shirodkar – resigned as members of the House as also from the primary membership of the party on Tuesday. Both joined the BJP.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar being away from office for long due to ill health, has triggered speculation over the stability of his coalition government.
