PANJIM: The newly inducted BJP MLA Sankalp Amonkar on Friday hit back at his former bosses — Congress Goa Desk In-Charge Dinesh Gundu Rao and KC Venugopal, accusing the duo of selling party tickets during the Assembly elections held earlier this year.
The accusation was levelled in exchange of an allegation by Rao that each rebel Congress MLA was paid Rs 30 – 40 crore to switch sides and join the BJP.
Addressing mediapersons, Amonkar said that Rao and Venugopal, who were in charge of Goa elections, sold out tickets in exchange for crores of rupees. “Loyal and hardcore Congressmen were denied tickets as they refused to give money. In 12 constituencies, tickets were sold to businessmen and others in exchange for huge sums of money,” the MLA charged.
He even charged that Rao sold the State party president’s post.
“How can a new entrant be promoted as the party chief? I was the most senior there. The deal took place in Bengaluru. Even the Leader of Opposition post was sold,” Amonkar said.
He further said that all eight MLAs are ready to resign if Congress can prove the allegation.
“Rao’s statement was out of frustration. If he can prove that we have taken even a single penny, we are ready to resign as MLAs tomorrow. We joined BJP without any condition and only for the development of our constituencies,” he said.
