Anti-Narcotic Cell of Goa Police, conducted a major narcotic raid at Mapusa on Sunday, wherein a Mapusa man with drugs worth Rs. 55 Lakh was arrested. The accused Manish Mahadeshwar, a 44-year-old resident of Mapusa was arrested on Sunday’s early morning raid. The ANC officials have seized a whopping 30 kilograms of Ganja and 5 kilograms of Charas all worth Rs.55,00,000/-
Acting upon reliable information, the accused was under the radar of the ANC sleuths for several days. Accordingly, a raid was strategically conducted after laying a trap and apprehending the accused along with his car at Mapusa near the Mapusa- Porvorim highway during the early morning of Saturday. During the raid, the accused was found in possession of the above consignment of narcotics.
This is the biggest drug haul in terms of ganja where a staggering 30 kgs of ganja along with 5 kgs of Charas was seized during the raid. The police have also detained one i10 car which belongs to the accused that was used to transport the narcotics along with 50,000/- cash.
The raid comes after a weeklong strategic work where the ANC discreetly worked undercover in and around the Mapusa area. A preliminary inquiry has revealed that the accused has an interstate connection where he used to procure ganja from Karnataka and charas from the hilly regions of Himachal. It may be recalled that earlier this week, the ANC had arrested an Odisha native with a consignment of 10 kgs of Ganja at Guirim, Mapusa.
The raid was led and conducted by LPSI Priyanka Garodi along with PCs Nitesh Mulgaonkar, Mandar Naik, Amit Salunke, Laxman Mhamal, Prabhu Madiwalar and Police driver Anant Raut under the supervision of PI ANC Sajith Pillai.
The entire raid was conducted under the leadership, guidance, and monitoring of DYSP ANC Nerlon Albuquerque and SP ANC Bossuet Silva. PI ANC Sajith Pillai is conducting further investigation into the case.
