PANJIM: The Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) police on Sunday arrested Italian DJ Michael Lawrence Steffenoni, who goes by the stage name DJ Bobblehead and his accomplice on the charges ofpossessing narcotics worth Rs 50.25 lakh.
DJ Bobblehead and his 28-year-old accomplice Neil Walter were arrested after they were found in possession of 50 grams of suspected LSD liquid worth Rs 50 lakh and 50 grams of charas worth Rs 25,000, all totally valued at Rs 50.25 lakh.
Working on prior and specific information, the ANC team maintained discreet surveillance on the Italian DJ and his movements. Accordingly, a narcotic raid was conducted at the rented premises of the Italian national where the police found the contrabands in their possession.
DJ Bobblehead was working as a resident DJ in one of the popular nightclubs at Vagator. He was scheduled to headline two shows at two different popular night clubs at Anjuna and Vagator area on Saturday and Sunday before ANC team swooped on him.
The police also suspect that the said contraband was brought by the DJ Bobblehead for sale and distribution during the above events where the DJ was supposed to headline. The police seized 50 grams of charas from the possession of his accomplice Neil Walter, who was also present with the DJ at his rented premises at Assagao.
This the second narcotic raid conducted by the ANC police in the span of 24 hours.The raid was conducted and led by PSI Manjunath Naik along with head constables Umesh Dessai, Pramod Kalangutkar and constables Nitesh Mulgaonkar, Sumit Mutkekar, Mandar Naik, Makarand Ghadi, Yogesh Madgaonkar, Sairaj Naik and constable/driver Anant Raut.
The raid was conducted under the supervision of PI (ANC)Sajith Pillai. A case has been registered against both the accused under the relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The case is further being investigated by PSI Dindayalnath Redkar.
Both the accused were produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Mapusa, who remanded them in 10 days police custody.
