The Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) of Goa Police conducted a
successful raid in Siolim, apprehending an individual from Kerala in possession
of narcotics. The operation, led by Police Sub Inspector Sunil Falkar and
supervised by PI ANC Sajith Pillai, took place on 17th December 2023, near the
Siolim Football Ground.
The raid was a result of diligent intelligence work by the ANC, which received information about the suspect’s activities. The arrested individual, a native of Kannur, Kerala, was found in possession of 144.10 grams of a yellowish-coloured powder suspected to be Ecstasy, with an estimated street value of Rs. 14,44,100/-. The substance was positively identified as Ecstasy through testing with a Drug Detection Kit.
In addition to the Ecstasy, 40 blots of paper suspected to be LSD were discovered, with an estimated value of Rs. 2,00,000/-. The LSD was also confirmed through testing with a Drug Detection Kit. The total value of the seized narcotics in this operation amounts to Rs. 16,44,100/-.
This raid follows a recent arrest of a Russian national with drugs exceeding a value of One Crore. The interrogation of the Russian suspect provided leads that led to the operation in Siolim, demonstrating the ANC’s commitment to addressing drug-related activities in the state.
The ANC has intensified its efforts to curb drug activities, especially in light of the ongoing tourist season and upcoming events in the state. The operation was closely guided and monitored by DySP ANC Nerlon Albuquerque and SP ANC Bossuet Silva.
The accused from Kerala is currently in custody, and the investigation is underway. The ANC is determined to maintain a robust stance against drug trafficking, ensuring the safety and well-being of the state’s residents and visitors. The accused will be produced for remand as the investigation progresses.
