ANC sleuths arrest three youth for peddling drugs

PANJIM: An Odisha native is amongst three persons arrested for allegedly peddling drugs in the commercial capital of the State. The Anti Narcotics Cell’s (ANC) raids across three locations saw a record Rs 13.62 lakh drugs seized from three youth, all aged 22 years old.

A press statement issued by Superintendent of Police (ANC) Mahesh Gaonkar states that in a raid between late hours of Monday and early Tuesday, the team caught red-handed Muhafiz Pathan in possession of suspected substance like ganja. 

The team, worked on a tip off that a drug peddler will arrive near KTC bus stand with the contraband substance. 

On being searched, the raiding team found that drugs, which valued at Rs 1.31 lakh approximately, were concealed in a shoulder bag carried by the accused. A mobile phone and KTM bike was also attached under panchanama.

In a second raid at a bus stop shed in Majorda on Tuesday, the ANC sleuths arrested Millen Kumar Pilai, a native of Puri in Odisha with suspected substance like ganja, worth Rs 10.31 lakh.

“The ganja was concealed in black colour polythene bag by the accused in his Volkswagen Polo car. A mobile phone and Volkswagen Polo car has been seized from the accused under panchanama,” reads the ANC statement. 

In yet another raid at Margao, Vinayak Zuarkar was caught red-handed in possession of the drugs value of which is estimated at Rs 2 lakh approximately. 

With all the accused arrested under Sections 20 (B) (II) (B) of NDPS Act, 1985 in separate FIRs, their custodial interrogation will reveal further about the source of drugs, etc. 

“The ANC was working out on this information since last few months,” the statement said.
