VASCO, MAY 11
A native of Andhra Pradesh (AP) was arrested on charges of duping 12 unemployed youth from AP to the tune of Rs 6.8 lakh, after promising them overseas job.
Pathan Mohammad Badsha was arrested by Andhra Police and was handed over to Vasco police a couple of days ago.
Complainant Shivprashad Vemula, owner of Samarth Travels, had taken about Rs 65,000 from 12 unemployed youth from Hyderabad and handed the money to the accused.
However, after the amount was delivered, the accused did not respond to the youth, due to which Vemula lodged a police complaint with Rajampett police station in Hyderabad.
Since the complainant had handled all the transactions from his office in Vasco, AP police referred the case to Vasco police for investigation.
The accused, who was in Kuwait for nearly one and half years after taking the money had recently come down to Andhra Pradesh, where he was arrested by AP police and handed over to Vasco police.
Vasco police have arrested the accused under Section 420 of IPC and Immigration Act and has sent him to five days police custody.
