PONDA: The All Goa Union of Anganwadi Workers has threatened to launch agitation if the officials of the Women and Child Welfare Department fail to stop harassing the workers within the next two days.
The anganwadi leaders alleged that its old union members along with the department officials with vested interests have started harassing the workers asking to sign on blank papers.
The union’s legal Advisor Hridaynath Shirodkar along with president Devyani Tamse threatened to stage an agitation if their three demands including hike in salary are not met within two days. Shirodkar alleged following Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant’s assurance on fulfilling these promises the WCD officials started harassing them.
Of the 11 demands, the government assured to fulfil pension scheme, nominee and retirement benefits. However the CM failed to fulfil these demands.
