PANJIM: Giving an ultimatum to the government, President of Goa Union of Anganwadi workers (GUAW) Devyani Tamse on Wednesday said the seven agitating workers will abandon even the consumption of water if the government does not revoke their termination order by Wednesday night.
She further added that they will hold the government and the concerned authorities responsible for any ill effects that occur on their health.
Briefing mediapersons, Tamse informed that they received an undertaking along with a note attached to it from the office of Directorate of Women and Child, requesting them to endorse their signature on the same.
The undertaking reads thus: “I the undersigned was terminated by the Director (WCD) on the charge of indiscipline/dereliction of duty after giving a show cause notice to me. I was advised by the Director (WCD) to challenge the termination before an appropriate forum in case I am not satisfied vide Director (WCD) letter dated 07/04/2020. In this context, I have to say that I have no intention to challenge the termination order. I apologize for participating in dharna at the residence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister. Furthermore, I hereby undertake that henceforth I shall not indulge in any politically motivated agitations/ neither morcha’s nor I will provoke or disrupt the services being implemented under various welfare programs of Govt. of India and the Government of Goa.”
Meanwhile, the 108 Ambulance service was called after one of the protesting worker Devyani Tamse fainted and her blood pressure went below the normal value.
Condemning the act of celebration for his ‘100 days of action’ by CM Dr Pramod Sawant, Union Leader Hridaynath Shirodkar said, “With the women protesting day and night, with the fuel price on hike, law and order situation being persisting in the State every now and then, what is that the CM is exactly celebrating for?”
