PANJIM: Condemning Government atrocities against those opposing IIT project, the Goencho Avaaz has termed the transfer of a differently-abled anganwadi worker from Sattari to Quepem as “disgusting and inhuman” action.
In a press note issued, Goencho Avaaz co-convenor Swapnesh Sherlekar claimed that the government is trying to bully villagers into submission and install fear in voters and government employees.
“This revengeful act and pressure tactics on the part of the government on the villagers of Melauli for opposing the ill conceived IIT in their village is a sign of the dark times that the people of Goa are going through,” he charged.
An Anganwadi worker was transferred to Quepem from Sattari, after her husband was part of the protest against proposed IIT project.
The NGO has urged Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant not to be silent on the issue and to step and act by sacking Industries Minister Vishwajit Rane, the local MLA from Valpoi.
“The silence of Chief Minister on this entire matter especially when appeals for intervention are made to him by Sattari people clearly indicates the helplessness and thus failure of Pramod Sawant as CM of Goa,” Sherlekar claimed.
“In these circumstances we demand that the CM has to either, demonstrate his competence by reversing all the transfer orders issued to the people of Sattari in past two months and control the abusive illegal actions of his Health Minister or resign for being incompetent,” he demanded.
