PANJIM: Anganwadi workers have temporarily withdrawn the agitation on account of fulfilment of three demands–pension scheme, nominee and retirement benefits.
Trade Union leader and Hrudaynath Shirodkar on Thursday said that out of 11 demands only three have been settled by the government. The pending demands are treating anganwadi helpers and workers at par with government employees, enhancement in the remuneration, yearly increment, seniority increment, and continuity in service, equal pay for equal work, sick leave and absorption in government service are yet to be fulfilled.
Shirodkas further said, the agitation is not fully withdrawn but we will not sit at the Azad Maidan, Panjim from Friday. After a committee meeting of all the block members of anganwadi workers scheduled on Sunday, we will decide what future course of agitation, he added.
