VASCO: Angela Lourenco Mesquita Furtado was on Saturday elected as the sarpanch of the Cortalim panchayat. Angela defeated former sarpanch Senia Periera by 7 to 4 votes. All 11 panchas were present for the election.
The new sarpanch said that she would consult all the panchas before taking developmental works in the village. Deputy Sarpanch Raymond D’Sa said, “There were too many forces against us and these elections. Even some MLAs were interfering in this election.”
