ST ESTEVAM: The disappearance of Father Bismark and the discovery of his personal belongings has led to a wave of anger and outrage. While the search for him is on and he is officially missing, many of his colleagues and other activists are fearing the worst.
While Herald advises absolute caution against jumping to conclusions, it strongly demands that the police carry out a thorough and full-fledged search and investigation, and not to treat this as just another missing persons case, given the fact that Father Bismark has taken on very strong official, corporate and other powerful lobbies in his fight against the destruction of Goa
Father Bismark is a member Musical Warriors, the group which is spearheading large scale protests in several flashpoints in Tiracol against the Leading Hotels Golf Course and Marina Project (Save Tiracol, Save Goa movement), in Carmona against the Rahejas (Save Carmona, Save Goa movement) and in Tuem (Save Amarnath Save Goa movement), in solidarity with Amarnath Naik, the villager whose land the government has taken over for the Electronic City project. Herald reiterates that there is absolutely nothing to link these protests to him going missing, yet
Meanwhile, St Estevam locals are suspecting some foul play behind the disappearance of Fr Dias. Antony Heredia, a local informed that Fr Bismark Dias was seen last at 10:00 pm on Thursday night and he had left with some beer bottles with other two men, who are presently under Old Goa Police Station custody for questioning.
Heredia has said that the place where Fr Bismark along with two others were partying is not safe place to enjoy.
Kennedy Afonso, a Musical Warrior protestor from south Goa who had come to town went to the island after hearing the news of Father Bismark’s missing, suspected some foul play “Father Bismark has attracted lot of enemies fighting for the truth, and we will not keep quiet if there is any foul play. The whole of Goa will unite and come together” he said.
Sudip Dalvi the Convenor of Musical Warriors said “We don’t want a half-hearted search. There should be a full fledged rescue mission ad more force should be pressed in. I do not think this is a simple missing case”.
Meanwhile, Goans for Goa (GFG) has suspected foul play in the case.
