MARGAO: Frustrated with the repeated fire incidents at Sonsoddo and the approach of the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) towards the issue, locals including Shadow Council for Margao (SCM) on Friday demanded crime branch inquiry into the matter.
Savio Coutinho stated that there was absolutely no reason even for a blind person to believe that the cause of fire was due to methane gas, which has become a permanent excuse for the MMC.
Speaking to Herald, Freddy Barreto said, “There is no point in pointing fingers at the government, as the mess at the initial stages was created by the Municipality itself. Now, it is the duty of the civic body to resolve the issue at the earliest, as it has become a health hazard to the locals residing nearby areas,” said Barretto.
