Angered over suspension, Valanka calls Digvijai a hypocrite

MARGAO: Goa Youth Congress Chief Valanka Alemao on Saturday termed the decision of Indian Youth Congress to place her under suspension for indiscipline as unfair when the Congress is talking of women empowerment and 33 per cent reservation for them.

Valanka also slammed the AICC general secretary in charge of Goa desk, Digvijai Singh, terming him as the biggest ‘hypocrite”, saying that she had opted out of Goa for electioneering for the Lok Sabha after obtaining the nod from Digvijai. She blamed him for her suspension.
Claiming that she was harassed, tortured, pressurised to quit the Youth Congress post without rhyme or reason, Valanka said the party leadership has resorted to suspension after it could not get her out. “All the pressure tactics, harassment and torturing did not work because I am strong and because I did not do anything wrong. They finally have placed me under suspension”, she said.
She ridiculed the suspension letter despatched by the party leadership, saying the Congress leaders didn’t deem fit to issue a show-cause notice before taking the decision. “No reason is cited in the suspension letter other than saying I have been suspended as YC chief with immediate effect for indiscipline without citing reasons”, she added.
Asked about her future course of action now and whether she would leave the party, Valanka said she is not in a proper frame of mind to answer the query. “I am shattered because of my uncle Ciabro, who is in a critical condition. At this moment, I have no answer about my future in the Congress or my political future”, she said, but hastened to add that though she was disqualified from contesting the Youth Congress poll in 2010, she had bounced back by winning the next youth Congress poll.
