Angler feared drowned off Canaguinim

A 23-year-old angler from Morpilla-Balli, Canacona, was feared drowned after falling in the deep sea off Canaguinim coast on Monday evening.
According to sources, three persons had gone fishing near the ONGC Complex at Canaguinim on Monday at about 3.30 pm, when one slipped and fell in the deep sea. The name of missing youth has been provided as Subhash Pauto Gaonkar.
Other two anglers, Nandesh Velip (neighbour of Gaonkar) and Mohan Velip from Matvem-Khola are reported safe and alerted others. Futile attempts were made with the help of locals to locate Gaonkar.
When contacted, sources at Cuncolim police station confirmed the incident but could not provide any details, as a police team was yet to return from the site of the incident.
Sources further informed that search was still going on and continued till late Monday night with no success.
