Anil Hoble loses hold of Goa Bhandari Samaj

Defeated by Ashok Naik in polls to head new panel

PANJIM: After two days of counting, the new executive committee of the Goa Bhandari Samaj was elected on Tuesday with Ashok Naik as head of the panel. 
Naik defeated Anil Hoble by a margin of 78 votes. While Naik secured 1283 votes in the election that was held on Sunday, Hoble who held the post for nearly nine years got 1205 votes. 
Devanand Naik has been elected the vice president, while Upendra Gaokar is the general secretary and Fakru Panjikar has been elected secretary. The results also saw Zoguso Naik elected treasurer and Sunil Naik joint treasurer. 
The elections to appoint the executive committee of Goa Bhandari Samaj were held at Menezes Braganza Hall on Sunday. A total of 2667 voters out 3998 had cast their votes.
