Now the Anjuna Communidade has issued a notice to the organisers of India Bike Week (IBW) demanding a payment of Rs 20 lakh as charges for utilizing additional land for the event without obtaining prior permission. The Communidade has warned of necessary action if the specified amount is not paid within three weeks.
The dispute arose when it came to the notice of the Anjuna Communidade that the organisers of India Bike Week had allegedly encroached upon extra land belonging to the Communidade without obtaining proper authorization. The Gaonkars (local villagers) promptly raised the issue with the Communidade committee, urging appropriate action against the event managers.
Following the complaint, the Communidade committee conducted an inspection of the disputed land and subsequently issued a letter to the event organisers. In the communication, the organisers were instructed to either vacate the unauthorized land or remit additional charges for its use.
In response to the situation, the Gaonkars of Anjuna Communidade convened a general meeting to address the matter comprehensively. During the meeting, a proposal was put forth and subsequently passed, mandating the event organisers to pay a sum of Rs 20 lakh as charges for utilizing the extra land without securing prior permission.
The notice issued by the Anjuna Communidade serves as a formal communication to the IBW organisers, emphasizing the seriousness of the matter and the community’s expectation for compliance. The specified amount of Rs 20 lakh is deemed necessary to compensate for the unauthorized use of the land and is intended to deter such incidents in the future.
The organisers of India Bike Week now have a three-week window to respond to the notice and make the required payment. Failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe may result in further action by the Anjuna Communidade, reflecting the community’s commitment to safeguarding its resources and ensuring adherence to established protocols.
