Anjuna cops nab sex traffickers, rescue three women

The police arrested Mohsin Shaikh, a native of Gujarat and Shilpi Mishra, a native of Mumbai, who were allegedly involved in trafficking of women.

Mapusa: The Anjuna Police busted a human trafficking racket and rescued three women on Thursday. 

According to SDPO Jivba Dalvi, the police received a tip-off about prostitution at Anjuna, and a team was formed to conduct a raid at Mainath Bhati, Arpora on Wednesday, during which three trafficked women were rescued and lodged at the Protective Care Home at Merces. 

The police arrested Mohsin Shaikh, a native of Gujarat and Shilpi Mishra, a native of Mumbai, who were allegedly involved in trafficking of women. 

 Shaikh was nabbed when he was ‘delivering’ a woman to a client. During the ensuing enquiry, the victim disclosed the whereabouts of two other women housed in a resort in Arpora.  

 The Anjuna police have registered an offence under Sections 370, 370(3) r/w 34 of the IPC and Sections 4 & 5 of the Immoral Trafficking Act.
