Anjuna parking attendant died of heart attack, CM informs Assembly

PORVORIM: Parking attendant from Anjuna Sagar Naik, who was seriously assaulted by Bangalore tourists, died due to heart-attack, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant told the State Legislative Assembly. 

Replying to the calling attention motion, Sawant said that upon post mortem examination conducted at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim the cause of death was certified as “acute myocardial infarction as a result of chronic occlusive coronary artery disease precipitated due to stimulation of the autonomic nervous system in a person with simple body surface injuries”. 

“The victim died of a heart attack. However, further investigation is currently underway… we cannot say at this point that he was murdered by the tourists,” Sawant added further. 

His response came to the charge from the Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat that the local was murdered by the tourists. 

The Chief Minister said that all the accused persons from Bangalore are placed under arrest for the crime and are currently in police custody. 

Sawant submitted that one of the accused persons is undergoing medical treatment at District Hospital, Mapusa. 

“Owing to the serious injuries to the accused person, an FIR is also filed against some locals, who were involved in attacking the tourists,” he said.
