Anjuna police arrest one for trafficking, prostitution

In a major development, the Anjuna Police have successfully apprehended an individual involved in a trafficking and prostitution case in Calangute. Acting on prior information, SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi led a raid, resulting in the red-handed capture of the accused while attempting to supply a girl to a potential customer.

The arrested suspect has been identified as 25-year-old Deepu, son of Ram Faranm Yadav, from Surjballi Purva village in Uttar Pradesh. At the time of the arrest, he was residing at Resort de Crossroad in Calangute.

Following the arrest, an FIR has been registered against Deepu under sections 370 (A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. It was discovered that the accused was actively involved in the illicit trade of providing girls to customers, profiting from their earnings.

During the operation, a victim girl was successfully rescued and subsequently placed under the care of a Protective Home, ensuring her safety.

The investigation into the case is currently underway and being led by PI Prashal Dessai, under the supervision of SP North, Shivendu Bhushan IPS, and SDPO Jivba Dalvi.
