ANJUNA POLICE COMPLETELY TURNING A BLIND EYE TO NOISE POLLUTION

Some loud EDM parties went on till 6 am, Noise pollution harassed citizen Darshan Bhatia explains

When the Anjuna Police turns a complete blind eye to Noise Pollution despite High Court orders who can protect the fundamental rights of the sleepless law abiding residents of Goa?  The blatant and flagrant disregard for the law by the police is egregious and is bringing the entire administration of justice in Goa into disrepute.

One does not need to be a super sleuth to take proactive steps to prevent the aggressive levels of noise pollution.  You only need to monitor social media to be alert to upcoming violations.

The below noted time line is just one example of the steps a citizen is forced, without resolution, to take to combat the persistent noise pollution that prevents residents from sleeping peacefully at night.

It is well known that the outdoor wedding venue, Arpora Hills, situated on a hill in the village of Arpora was a violator of noise pollution norms during previous November/December/January seasons.  Recently ToyPlayground Goa commenced advertising on Paytm Insider and on social media for a series of outdoor concerts called Toy Carnival 4.0 with Bollywood artists on December 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st at this very location, known by local residents as a menace to the village.

In anticipation of the upcoming outdoor concert, I made the Anjuna PS, Director of Environment, DGP, Collector North Collector, GSPCB, DY Collector (STM Mapusa) and SP North Zone aware of possible violations via a formal complaint  by email and a hardcopy outlining outdoor music events that would prima facie be a violation of court rulings.  The letter included advertisements by the organizer providing full details of the event.

This letter was sent via email to Anjuna PS, Director of Environment, DGP, Collector North Collector, GSPCB, DY Collector (STM Mapusa) and SP North Zone at 14:30 on Thursday December 28, 2023.

A hard copy of the letter was also hand delivered to Anjuna police station at 20:04 on Thursday December 28 2023.

The music commenced at approximately 1930 on Thursday December  28, 2023.  It was apparent from the commencement that decibels levels were clearly and flagrantly in excess of legal norms and would disturb the residents of Arpora village.

In addition to the letter delivered to Anjuna the following action was taken all of which can be verified by phone logs, whatsapp messages and videos taken at the premises of ToyPlayground Goa located on the hills of Arpora in the former outdoor wedding venue known locally as  Arpora Hills.
