Mapusa: Agustinho Carvalho, 40, a resident of Gomes Vaddo Majorda was arrested by the Anjuna police for allegedly robbing Rs 40,000 from a driver of a milk van.
Police stated that on June 24, Carvalho waylaid a tempo driver while he was delivering milk near the SFX High School, Siolim at around 8 am, threatened him and his helper with dire consequences, snatched Rs 40,000 from the latter and fled on his Activa scooter. The duo later filed a police complaint.
Anjuna Police immediately registered offence under section 356, 379 IPC and nabbed the accused in Siolim market area on Saturday.
Police recovered the Activa Scooter bearing registration number GA 11 J 0863 used for committing the crime. Anjuna PI Prashal Dessai stated that the accused is a habitual offender and had been earlier booked for thefts at various police stations in Goa.
