ANJUNA: Agitated villagers from Anjuna on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to Anjuna PI Navlesh Dessai stating that sex trade is being carried out in the spas and massage parlours at Anjuna.
They have demanded that the authorities conduct surprise raids and stop the on-going nuisance as “these activities will result in the bad image of the village across the world.”
In the memorandum, the locals alleged that sex trade is going on in a house at D’Mello waddo near Starco Bar located just a kilometre away from Anjuna police station. They claimed that the activity is going on for the last two years with the blessings of the various departments.
“The agents bring the tourists from the beach promising to provide them with girls. They show them the girls from outside and demand Rs 10,000 per person. If they refuse to pay, then the bouncers who are deployed there beat the customers mercilessly. This place is turning out to be a nuisance to the locals,” the memorandum reads.
Copies of the memorandum have been submitted to the Anjuna sarpanch, chief minister, MLA and WRD minister, Primary Health Centre at Siolim, Deputy Collector and SDM Mapusa.
Earlier, the villagers caught five pimps for running sex trade at two separate spas at D’Mello Waddo in Anjuna, thrashed, paraded them in public and then handed them over to the police.
