MARGAO: The Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat said that the lockdown announced by the Chief Minister on Wednesday is a haphazard reaction to their demand for a plan of action and a white paper on COVID. He added that it is definitely not the solution to control spike in COVID cases in Goa.
“Yesterday (Tuesday), I had also urged the government to withdraw the order asking all private hospitals to reserve 20% beds in their ICUs for Covid patients. After my questioning yesterday on availability of ventilators in Goa and 20,000 rooms quarantine facility announced by Chief Minister two months back, the Government today (Wednesday) gave post facto approval for purchase of 200 ventilators. This clearly shows total unpreparedness of the government to control and handle the COVID pandemic in a scientific and well thoughtful manner. I once again demand that the concrete action plan and release of White Paper is a must for everyone to know where we stand,” the former Chief Minister added.
Goa Congress President Girish Chodankar reacting to the partial lockdown announcement by the Chief Minister, said it is a reflection of his defective administration.
Referring to the meeting the CM had with the Governor Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhavan, Girish asked, “Is it a political lockdown or a self-survival lockdown in desperation?”
