Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott at its annual general body meeting
held on 7th July 2018 unanimously elected a new Managing Committee headed by
Julio D’Silva as the President along with 12 other managing committee members
at the elections conducted by Felix Furtado.
It may be recalled that Julio D’Silva was the founder
general secretary when the Ganv Bhavancho Ekvott was formally registered with
the Registrar of Co-operative Societies 10 years ago and served as the general
secretary till May 2015.
The office bearers elected are Maria Mascarenhas and Irene
Antao while Alzira Pereira was elected the General Secretary and Anthony
Pereira as Joint Secretary and Anand Shirodkar was retained as the Treasurer.
The following were elected as managing committee members:
Serena Antao, Sucorro Fernandes, Francisco Coutinho, Antonio Colaco, Fanny
Coutinho, Emerson Britto and Benito Coutinho.
The outgoing General Secretary Basil Fernandes in his report
pointed out that the managing committee was assailed with the death of the
President Joe Antao within a year of being elected and also had to suffer the
mortification of the general secretary proceeding on leave due to personal
problems.
He thanked all members who helped the organization to
survive those traumatic times and all the members congratulated him and Darwin
Cardoso who stepped in as the president and kept the flag flying.
