VASCO: The Sancoale Comunidade demolished another 43 illegal structures at Zuarinagar on the second day taking the total number of structures razed to 61. Now only three structures including one fully built house will be demolished on Friday.
Comunidade Attorney Jayesh Fadte said that during the survey, as many as 64 structures at Zuarinagar were found to have been built illegally. Of these 31 structures were fully built houses and 33 houses were under construction.
According to Fadte, most of these illegal structures were found abandoned after the Comunidade obtained a stay order from the Court, who also dismissed the appeals of the occupants.
He said, “Thus these structures remained under construction when we got a stay on their construction and these structures.”
He said that the managing committee often faced wrath of occupants from these illegal structures whenever they tried to stop them. Even survey work was carried out under police protection.
Fadte said that the demolition drive by the Comunidade of Sancoale will now serve as a deterrent to those indulging in illegalities by usurping Comunidade land. The process took a long time but finally justice was delivered, he added.
