PANJIM: The Panjim police have arrested another alleged accused in the fake currency case that saw total five Chandigarh men mid this month. Narayan Singh, aged 36 years, was arrested from his native place at Mandasur in Madhya Pradesh and brought to Goa on transfer warrant.
He has been remanded to 10 days police custody for interrogation while custody of other five accused Rajdeep, Gagandeep, Harjeet, Rahul and Anurag were on Wednesday extended by another five days. They were earlier remanded to eight days of custodial interrogation.
The first five accused were arrested following a raid at a hotel in Calangute that also led to recovery of approximately Rs 2.96 lakh in denominations of Rs 100, Rs 200 and Rs 2,000 notes.
The case is being investigated under Sections 489-A (counterfeiting currency notes or bank notes), 489-B (using as genuine, forged or counterfeit currency notes or bank notes) and 489-C (possession of forged or counterfeit currency notes or bank notes) of the Indian Penal Code.
