A second man has gone missing in the Galgibaga River in less than two days, even as fire brigade and lifeguards who launched a search for the missing persons since Tuesday were yet to trace them.
According to sources, one Patrick Francisco Barreto (35) of Kantiebhag-Galgibaga had gone angling along with another person at Vanibhand, a fishing location in river Galgibaga on Wednesday at about 7 am.
It is reportedly learnt that Barreto was suddenly carried away by flood waters and disappeared in the aggressively flowing Galgibaga River due to overnight heavy rains.
Sources informed that the Canacona fire brigade personnel and lifeguards posted at nearby Galgibaga Beach were frantically moving across the river banks in an effort to trace the missing man.
It may be recalled that one 52-year-old musician and local resident of Idhar-Poinguinim had accidentally fallen into the river while walking to his residence on Tuesday afternoon, and is yet to be located.
When contacted, Canacona police informed that the missing man, feared to have drowned while fishing, is yet to be found and a missing complaint is registered by them.
Police also confirmed that the man from Idhar-Poinguinim, who had reportedly fallen in the river on Tuesday, is still not found.
