Another high as cases and deaths rise

PANJIM: Directorate of Health Services (DHS) reported the highest number of deaths within 24 hours and the highest number of cases reported in a single day.

Of the 38 persons who died on Monday, 9 deaths were reported at South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), 23 deaths at Goa Medical College (GMC); 2 deaths at a private hospital in South Goa; 1 death in a private hospital in North Goa; 2 were brought dead to Hospicio Hospital and 1 was brought dead to Asilo Hospital.

DHS also reported 2,321 new COVID positive cases that saw the total number of active cases breach the 15,000 mark, rising up to 15,260. 

In all 6,672 samples were tested on Monday and the positivity rate has reached 34.27 per cent, while the recovery rate has dropped to 79.55 per cent. 

Also 712 patients had recovered, while 632 new patients were placed under home isolation and 178 new patients were hospitalised. The youngest who succumbed was a 31-year-old man and the oldest was a 90-year-old woman, both residents of Bicholim.
