The incident has evoked protests from local villagers, who have questioned the government and the authorities for the failure to widen the road near the sharp turn. A local villager Kamlax Prabhugaonkar told the media that the government authorities should act before there is a major tragedy at this stretch of road.
“The tanker carrying aviation turbine fuel which overturned on New Year Day should have been an eye opener to the government and the authorities to take up work and widen the turn on an urgent basis,” Prabhugaonkar said.
