Anti-hijack mock exercise conducted at INS Hansa

VASCO: An Anti-Hijack Mock exercise was conducted at INS Hansa on Wednesday. The exercise is carried out every year as per the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security manual and it is aimed at testing the efficacy of the Anti-Hijack Contingency Plan.

Towards the conduct of exercise, a military fixed wing aircraft simulated to be the aircraft subject to “Unlawful interference” and requested landing at the Dabolim International Airport. All actions were taken as per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and after the permission was granted by the Commanding Officer, the aircraft was made to land. 

Aerodrome Committee headed by the Commanding Officer got mustered at the ACCR and all the agencies namely CISF, civil administration, State Police, bomb disposal squad, IOC, civil fire tenders, civil airlines and civil hospitals were exercised and reaction times were checked. All the agencies involved displayed high level of professionalism, good understanding of the situation simulated and fantastic coordination.

The exercise was terminated once the Marine Commandos (MARCOS) team stormed the aircraft showcasing immense professionalism and counter-terrorism skills, states a press release.
