PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that “anti-national” elements are preparing to “disturb” and “mislead” the youth and farmers of the country.
He was addressing the State-level function after hoisting the national flag on the occasion of the Republic Day. In the absence of Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, who was in Maharashtra, the Chief Minister hoisted the tri-colour.
“If one looks around today, anti-national forces are at work in the society to create chaos and disturb the peace. They are trying to mislead the youth and the farmers,” Sawant said adding that there is a need to create a feeling of love and pride for the country among each citizen.
“The Indian Constitution has enshrined that we should respect different opinions, observe law and order and know each one’s rights and duties. It is not just solemn duty of the government but also of the people to work for the unity of the country,” he added.
Sawant said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on the mission of instilling patriotism among citizens and to make India ‘vishwaguru’.
He said the government is working towards the goal of creating a “new India”, which will be a world leader in all aspects.
Further, the Chief Minister said the State government is committed towards the welfare of all the sections of the society, despite financial crisis in wake of COVID-19 pandemic. He also said that the State is marching towards becoming a developed State.
Sawant said his government is on a mission to achieve ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swayampurna Goa’ initiative. He urged people across the society right from students, housewives, professionals, etc, to contribute and guide government to make the State a “Golden Goa”.
